Katarina's Blades

From 3d model to practical prop

Raw Print

Once all the seperarte pieces are printed I connected them all with dowles and started sanding to remove the layer lines to the best of my ability. At this stage I also use wood filler to fill in all the gaps between the parts and fill layer lines I couldn’t sand away. Filler spray paint is also used to get the smaller gaps. Due to the middle section composing of 2 different layers of small sections, sanding it complelty smooth was not a quick option, filler paint was used mainly for this section.

Block paint layers

Due to the small details in the middle section, covering the whole blade with 1 of the 2 needed colours was the best option. This meant I only needed to do detail painitng with 1 other colour, as well a small bit of colour correction around the edges.

Details

At this stage all tha that was needed was to add the silver blade. The simpilest way to do this is to take off the middle section and use a spray piant to evenly coat the edges. After that all that was needed was to go back and fix the small bit of bleeding from the tape, give the whole blade a gloss top coat and add the leather handle wrap.
